Guangzhou

We got to Guangzhou today and it is good to be here. Inner Mongolia was good, but tough. This boy can rage! Oh boy can he rage and he sometimes thinks that Andy is the boogeyman, so when he does the rigid-body-back-arching-dog-decibel screaming, I'm the one who gets to walk around with him singing You Are My Sunshine until my throat is dry. But, he is doing it less and less now and we are seeing his adorable smile more and more now.

We got to take a trip to his orphanage in IM and it was a great place. He had five different nannies while he was there and they were all thrilled to see him again. All five gathered around him and clucked and fawned and a couple of them were a bit teary at seeing him. They clearly loved him a great deal and he loved them. He grinned from ear to ear and turned on the charm for them. Then, they asked to feed him and fed this 11 month old boy about two bowls of noodles with egg and vegetables. The buddha belly is no longer a mystery. He ate it up - the food and the attention. We were a bit nervous to leave after seeing how happy he was to see them, but he was a trooper and just came along with us. No raging or crying. Phew.

We got some good pool time in while we were in IM. Sam loves the water. Adores it. Pools, bathtubs, sinks. You name it and he wants to splash in it. We only let his face fall in the pool once. A+ parenting moment. He just looked really surprised and went on swimming. Attaboy.
This boy also loves to stare at himself in the mirror. Not just stare, but make eyes at and giggle. He thinks he's a sexy beast. Its quite adorable.

Now we are here in Guangzhou for the last appointments to get the U.S. to let him immigrate. We are eating Kung Pao Chicken and Sam is napping. And rumor is there are other eating options that my picky palate might enjoy. Good times for all.
Pictures to come soon.
