Yesterday, we went to visit the old part of Guangzhou. The old section of the city was built around a small canal, and there are a series of covered walkways and lakes there. It was very pretty, and we took many good pictures. There were plenty of people there doing exercises, reading their morning papers, and just sitting in the morning cool. That's right. I said cool. Of course, it's all relative, but the temperature was very nice. We actually got caught in the rain, but we had umbrellas and the stroller had a canopy, so we kept right on going. Sam was in good spirits waving at folks and flirting with the ladies, so we all had a very good morning.
Around lunchtime, we came back to the hotel with some takeout noodles and kung pao chicken. Sam ate more noodles and chicken broth than we believed he possibly could...and then he ate some more. He was clearly overly full, but had no interest in stopping the intake. We think it's just going to take some time before he figures out that he doesn't have to gorge himself. In the meantime, if you come to eat with us, be aware that the banshee screams usually make an appearance at mealtime.
We headed to our consulate appointment today and it was no big deal. We got there really early and got to see the long lines of people applying for visas. Erin had to hold Sam for about 45 minutes while we waited. Who needs P90X when you have a 22 pound training weight. He was a trooper and did a great job We took our oath as adoptive parents, and we'll get his visa tomorrow just in time for our train to Hong Kong. He'll be a U.S. citizen when he clears passport control in Detroit.
Tonight we have a dinner cruise with Rebecca our guide here. She's great and it should be a wonderful time...if we all can keep it together:)
